Refinished fibreglass in engine bay.

Used POR15 yacht enamel suitable for direct application to fibre glass.

Rose jointed replacement for balljoint. Not easy to source parts due to M18 fine thread.

Where did you find the rose joints? I may need to replace those on my car. They look as if they are the same as for the V6.

I can't get them from my local newsagent or greengrocer, but Stephen obviously knows where to look, hence my question.

The one I have made up is for the 4 cylinder car only equivalent to 6000003346

The 6 cylinder version is 6000056621 and while it looks similar and is the same price I do not know if the threads are the same.

You will have to measure one to find out. 4 Cylinder is M18 x 1.5

I've just measured the joint and both threads are M18 x 1.5. The vertical, ball ended leg has a 50 mm thread length and the horizontal socket ended leg has a thread length of 40 mm. The most obvious difference that I can see from your photo is that the ball ended leg has an external hexagon at its end on your photo whereas on the V6 the hexagon is internal. Other than that they appear to be similar.

Isn't it the early one that had a habit of poping the rear glass out (into a thousand little bits) when the clutch is dropped?

Stephen, I would like to try this stuff out on my Esprit boot/engine bay.

Could I ask where you got it from (frost?) and if you used a primer?

I have read the blurb for one of their products that I assume you have used and it says direct application to fibre glass but later in the information it says to use a primer.

Cheers

This came from frost and it was a yacht top coat product suitable for direct application or over a primer. This was direct with no primer.

I too like the blue!

Postby Tony Smith » Sun Apr 29, 2012 2:17 pm

I think the Gitanes blue really suits it, and you have to think about what colours the rest of your fleet are - you already have an orange and a yellow car. The metallic green on Shaddy's car looked very good too.
